E3 2011: What I Want

Similar to my Games, Games, Games post(s), I thought I'd write what I want to see at E3 2011, not predictions like all the game sites write about each year.  While I'm sure some of these are merely wishful thinking, others might have a real chance of actually appearing at this year's sweatfest.  So, without further ado:

1. The Return of Master Chief

I realize that not owning a 360 should make any opinion I have on the future of Master Chief void, but I still care about the guy.  There's something about the story and his character that I just like.  Apparently enough for me to get excited about a new Halo game, regardless of the fact that I might not ever play it.  With rumors of a Halo 1 remake, along with whatever the hell 343 is up to, I really do think we'll hear from the big guy this summer.

2. Half-Life 2: Episode 3

Nothing needs to be said about this.

Tribes

Really, anything Tribes-related announced at E3 would be great.  The fact that Hi-Rez is juggling 4 games right now is worrying.  It'd be nice to get some sort of reassurance from the company that Tribes isn't just a side-project.  The chances of this happening are extremely slim, however.  I wouldn't be surprised if Hi-Rez didn't attend the show this year(though they did in both 09 and 10).  If they did, showing off Smite wouldn't surprise me either...

Re-focusing Your Target Audience

Simply put, I want this casual bullshit to go away.  I'm sincerely hoping that the Kinect and Move resulted in disappointing sales, and that both companies go back to focusing on traditional gaming.  The Wii had a phenomenal run, at least financially, but I'm pretty sure actual gamers are tired of it.  With Wii 2 rumors everywhere you look, I'm hoping Nintendo can lead Microsoft and Sony back to what gaming used to be like.

  1. Definitely agree with you about casual gaming. Unless traditional gameplay ever truly benefits from the different interfaces, there seems to be little upside for the more serious gamer.
